What could be more pathetic than that?” Eighth grader Maureen is well aware she’s a dork and will never be a member of the ThreePees (the pretty, popular, perfect girls) but she’s not the only outcast at Grover Park Middle School. Allergy Alice can’t be near a mango without turning into a walking rash or eat wheat without her vision going blurry; and then there’s beanpole Barbara who has made embarrassing herself in front of the whole school a skill. All three thought they were destined to roam the halls alone until Maureen discovers the ThreePees plan of sitting next to Alice and eating all the foods she’s allergic to. The Clifton Public Library will celebrate Teen Read Week™ (October 16-22, 2011) with a special photography event! Teens ages 11-17 are invited to join us at the Main Memorial Library, Thursday October 20 at 7 P.M., for a light painting workshop with local photographer Rachel Darley.

Light painting is a photographic technique that uses a light source such as a flashlight to write in the air, draw a design or create an epic wizarding battle which then can be captured by the photographer by slowing the shutter speed of the camera. Tell us about the book. Would you recommend it to a friend?
Viola in Reel Life talks about a 14 year old girl who loves filmmaking and is sent to boarding school by her parents after living in Brooklyn her whole life. She is at first very negative about it but with time she learns to have an independent experience. I think the book needed more spice to it and to the way it was narrated.
